Once upon a time panties were considered private things to cover private parts and privately worn under garments out of public view. Well, that was a long time ago, well maybe just a season or two but in fashion last season can seem like eons. The spring 2010 collections presented at New York Fashion Week have brought forth a trend towards panties.The ready to wear collections of Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and Charlotte Ronson have showcased one or two ensembles that are spotlighting an emergence in wearing unmentionables. The collections aren’t the only guide for this forecast. Pop singers from the likes of Madonna, Beyonce and Rhianna have recently included bodysuits as part of the their performance armor.
We doubt that women young an old will take such a bold risk. There is no evidence that this trend plans to stop anytime soon, look for more panties replacing pants on performance stages, runways and retail stores near you.
